Here's the trick; see, people that gossip want to take the spotlight off of their messy lives, and redirect it on to yours. Gossip people also lack the intelligence, to speak on relevant important, topics, that matter to all human beings, that doesn't involve others within their own inner circle, family, workplace, school, or neighborhood. Gossip folks seek attention, so they perpetually 'air out' other people's 'private/dirty laundry' or 'indiscretions'. So, knowing this fact, here's what you need to do. Feed the gossip information about you, HOWEVER, not the "deep, personal, private information (which is what the gossip really wants to know/gossip about). Instead, purposely feed him, or her, information that is neutral and won't harm you, in any way, should that info be 'leaked', however, act like, it's a 'real secret that you don't want to get out there'. Speak to the gossip, in a whispered voice, "one-on-one", in an area where no one can over hear, in private, and ALWAYS START BY STATING, TO THE GOSSIP, OPENINING LINES LIKE... "don't tell anyone, cause I don't want this to get out', 'OR- 'off the record', -OR- 'between you and me". Here are some example: "hey, between you and me, I'm about to start my own business (use that one only when you're between jobs OR to someone you DO NOT WORK WITH). Here's another; 'off the record, I'm planning to move out of state, next month'. Another example': I got a tattoo, on my back, last week'. Now, these may not seem like much, however, as soon as you state the 'opening line', the gossip already knows, in his, or her, mind, who's he, or she is going to tell, and WILL TELL, within minutes, or days, because the gossip has nothing better to talk about and loves the attention that gossiping brings him, or her.
