Good morning,
For the first time in Morgan State University's history, all Homecoming Week activities/classes/football game have been cancelled due to [gun] violence. This is the third year in a row there has been gun violence during Homecoming Week on the campus. WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY. The neighborhood just south of the campus has had 368 violent crime incidents thus far in '23. Having to deal with the evils of institutional and mainstream racism is one thing. Having to leave your home and not get carjacked by an armed 11 year old, or get shot in the head trying to go the grocery store by someone who looks like you is something entirely different. There's a lot of inspirational content on this platform. Somehow we've got to transmit and translate this positive, uplifting, energy to our communities across the country. WE ARE AT WAR WITH OURSELVES, AND THE BIGOTS ARE STANDING BY CHEERING US ON TO KILL EACH ANOTHER. NO CAP.
