What is Eumelanin?
Eumelanin is one of the two primary types of melanin pigment found in the human body, responsible for providing dark coloration to the skin, hair, and eyes. It comes in two subtypes: black eumelanin, which is responsible for black and brown colors, and brown eumelanin, which contributes to various shades of brown.The production of eumelanin is influenced by genetics, specifically genes that regulate the activity of melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin. The more eumelanin present in the skin, hair, or eyes, the darker the coloration will be. This is why individuals with higher eumelanin levels tend to have darker skin, brown or black hair, and brown eyes.
