The United States’ Declaration of Independence was signed and submitted on July 4, 1776. One of the most important passages that was took out the final draft was about the enslavement and treatment of African-Americans. Many politicians were divided on the topic. They needed to enslave Africans for their plantation system but they also saw how their newly written proclamation contradicts itself calling for liberty and freedom for all mankind. The politicians decided America could not continue to be economically successful without slavery and chose to get rid of this passage in the Declaration of Independence . So slavery continued. On the 4th of July 1777 as Americans celebrated the first annual commemoration of independence with concerts, bonfires, parades and the firing of cannons and muskets more than 500,000 Black Americans were slaves. A yearly average of 74,000 Africans were kidnapped and imported for the American colonies from 1776 to 1800 with a total of 1,850,000. SO DON’T ASK ME WHAT I’M DOING FOR THE 4TH OF JULY…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING…NOTHING FOR THIS DESCENDANT OF AFRICANS TO CELEBRATE.

we are currently in a heavy world enduring heavy times....some are repeats of the past & some on a new technology takeover....i have zero shame in admitting that "ME" trying to coexist with others in my "higher self" is a constant battle of intentional thought. i'm always mentally "self reminding" myself to NOT react 1st, don't feed into that, don't pop off, don't cry, don't throw in the towel, etc....when to be righteous, when to stand firm & tall, when to be divine, & when to just be f'n human. i'm not gonna ever be ashamed at the fact that sometimes u gotta keep it str8 fwd & 100 w/ppl...."i come in peace....& i always wanna BE AT PEACE", but ppl love to assume that those of us that are tapped in & on our own self spiritual journey are soft/weak & that's further from the truth. i'm still trying to maintain balance within our worldly chaos so i don't mentally lose control, but damn it's like sometimes it feels like life doesn't wanna give us no break to the bullshit.... --__--

What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?
Was a speech delivered by Frederick Douglass on July 5, 1852 at Corinthian Hall in Rochester, New York, at a meeting organized by the Rochester Ladies' Anti-Slavery Society. In the address, Douglass states that positive statements about American values, such as liberty, citizenship, and freedom, were an offense to the enslaved population of the United States because they lacked those rights. Douglass referred not only to the captivity of enslaved people, but to the merciless exploitation and the cruelty and torture that slaves were subjected to in the United States.

Shoplifting in NYC is so bad supermarkets are locking up, installing anti-theft devices on $6 ice cream: 'This is the age we live in now'

The Fairway supermarket on the Upper West Side is guarding $6 cartons of Häagen-Dazs with bolted plastic tops — which can only be removed with a device at the register.

As someone who served 14 years in the U.S. Army, you would think that I would be swept up in the celebration of July 4th, however the immense shame I have, and the fact that my mother didn't speak to me for 11 years gives me cause to hang my head in shame. Yes, it taught me workable skills that I utilize today, BUT what I lost in a revolutionary attitude can never be regained.
