I was a college student in Los Angeles in 1992 during the LA riots. I remember the Korean business owners in the black neighborhoods (we knew they was Korean) writing "Black Owned" on their buildings so we wouldn't burn them down.

I remember my mom calling me crying telling me "don't be in the middle of that shit," and my dad in the background saying "tell him to get me a VCR."

I remember our college Dean telling us (the black students) that he would expell us if he caught us on TV looting.

I remember as a Journalism student interviewing Black people.
