MOTHER'S DAY SALUTE TO ALL MOTHERS...
As for my dearly beloved Queen Mother…
She was a representative of the spirit of The Most High. A conservative and a wombmyn of love and peace. A domestic by trade which means she worked hard for the money to provide food, clothes and shelter for herself and her three children that was never compromised. She was a preservationist and guardian of Ndugu (family) always making sure that we all stayed in touch and connected. I have fond memories of her having invited my Baba (father) and my brothers Baba over on ceremonial occasions and seeing those two black men meet and greet each other outta love, honor and raspect while under HER roof in HER Queendom. I recall how people would give my mother their dying plants, or even a piece of it and how she’d take it in her care and bring it back to life each and every time they did to their amaze and astonishment. I recall how young mothers would hand their crying child over to my mom, and how shortly afterward the child would be calmed, cool and stop crying almost instantly.
I remember how young folk would hangout in the hallway on the floor we lived on in the housing complex and were boisterous and loud. My mother would open the door and just stick her head outside of it, next thing I hear is “sorry Mrs. Kelly”, and they’d leave the hallway quietly without my mom uttering a word to them.
I owe the best days of my life to my dearly beloved Queen Mother and for all the blessings she bestowed upon us all, me and my siblings, friends and other Ndugu members. There wasn’t anyone I knew that met my Mother and didn’t like her, she was mystical and magical that way. At her funeral procession people that knew her well would say, “if you really knew Mrs. Kelly you’d know that, if she liked you you’d know it, but if she didn’t like you you’d know that too.” That’s how real and down to earth momma kept it with everyone. Asante Sana Queen Mother and may peace be upon you forever and ever.
