Do I have to consider white people feelings
If I wrote poems about the truth?
If I wrote poems about our black history?
If I wrote poems about racism?
I mean I do write them a lot
And I discarded their feelings….
I don’t hate, I just study
I’ve observed….
If my poems were published,
In a book at a bookstore
I might get banned….
I might get banned immediately….

Nobody wants to hear about
Black power….
I’m not an activist
I advocate for my people
Cos somebody always needs a voice….
I understand the pain
The anger
Even when I don’t have a lot of
Experiences on white supremacy
But i can see myself fillin in our own shoes….
You see racism is somethin to talk about…
It’s an issue and I will never stop puttin my pen down
And share just cos of white feelings….
I don’t wanna be told not to express myself
Cos of white guilt…
I don’t wanna edit my words to make white people
Feel comfortable….

If I have to write about what’s real from the soul,
I will write it,
I will not feel horrible,
I will not apologize
Cos the thing is, look at the world right now
Look at Africa fightin against the colonial masters
Look at the White House and nazi guy…
Black people are still wakin
They’re already wakin up
You see my poems got everybody backin up
And said wait a minute this isn’t kai….

And i happen to write what’s goin on in the world
I don’t have to write about love and peace
I don’t have to be romantic
Sometimes
There’s more important than lovey dovey couples…
I’m talkin politics
I’m talkin black people
I’m talkin racism
Sometimes I’m talkin disability
right now
I’ve been comin up scenarios in my head
Dealin with difficult topics….
Like racism….
To me
Racism is so easy to speak on paper
Cos it’s simple to see in my face
It’s a problem, people said it doesn’t exist…
Honey it does….
That’s why I watch YouTube videos
And go look at the news
Only to keep me learnin more
I should continue to read
Though I write more to educate others out there
Who need a voice…
Who need a reason
Who need an understandin….
Yes white supremacy makes us angry
