Since 1883, Ol Doinyo Lengai has been known to be active, making it the only active volcano in East Africa. The Maasai people revere Ol Doinyo Lengai, which rises to a height of 2.886 meters (9,442 feet), and they travel there to worship and offer sacrifices to the almighty. In order to carry out the rituals, they bring young, pure female sheep as sacrifices. When the sheep are left in a dry watering hole at night, the Maasai people scream praises to God. The sheep are gone when they stir in the first part of the day, leaving no indications of their flight. Geologists sometimes refer to Ol Doinyo Lengai as the strangest volcano in the world because of its "cold" black lava, which has a low viscosity and a low temperature (for lava) of 500°C to 700°C ✊🏾🔥
