#thefuckery Miami PD receives backlash for custom 'Black History Month' car. Miami PD is facing heavy backlash after the department posted a video unveiling a custom ‘Black History Month’ cop car. The car’s unveiling would likely be considered tone deaf any February, but scores of people on social media were quick to point out that the cruiser is especially galling given that it came just one day after Tyre Nichols, who was killed at the hands of 5 Memphis police officers in January, was laid to rest in a funeral on Feb 1. The NAACP’s Sherrilyn Ifill called the custom car ‘grotesque.’
Imagine getting racially profiled by a cop in a Kente cruiser,’ one Twitter user said. ‘Instead on focusing on community policing, sensitivity training, increase mental health professionals in policing, etc.. the Miami police department did this,’ added another. ‘No, you don’t get credit for just trying,’ wrote MSNBC legal analyst Charles F. Coleman. ’This type of tone deaf performative action is what provokes a ‘war on wokeness’ when we are made to accept the unacceptable.’
