SInce the Reagan era, the FCC has been increasingly deregulating ownership, especially in local markets. Used to be you couldn't own a TV station and a newspape. The vast majority of Americans, seeing so many channels onscreen, have no idea of the media monopoly, if they even know what the FCC is.
