Sometimes our inner selves
Need to be shown on pages
A work of art….

Our ancestors before us hums
Beautiful stanzas before we ink
Before we drop
We flow masterpiece out of our lungs
As clouds…

We spoke what’s matters to us,
The deep movement, a protest…
Givin us a round full of snaps
We just give an audience
A favorite line…a soulful metaphor
How it becomes a brilliant memory….

Cos poets are my people…
I don’t know what you’re talkin
About…we love to write, we love words
We love to make people feel and think…
We’re not the most famous in today’s society…
We’re truly aware that poetry doesn’t pay any bills
But I know for one thing,

The world need us…they do have a listenin ear…
As we express our own humanity…
Our own vulnerable truths..
It’s an insult if you tell us to stop writin a poem
Especially how our controversies cause a stir…
You may ban us
You may shush us
However we’re louder,
Louder than music…
It’s not some poetry thing
It’s more than that….
It’s our lives
