I write poems
For black people
They need to be informed…
They need to know they’re human, too…
Is there a problem with that?
Are you goin to exterminate my work of art?
Cos I hang around a lot of white people?
Do you think I don’t take my blackness seriously?
Do you think I should be considered to for their white guilt trip?
Just cos I have white friends…and I should caress white fragility?
The fact is that I don’t have to be kind on paper
I’m aware that the truth doesn’t have to b cruel
But it does…
When it comes to racism that abuse my race,
I will have to say somethin…
Whether you want me to vanish or not, tryin to silence
My anger…my readers will come bring me to life
Again and again and again…like a curse that give
You discomfort….you may put tear up my words, you could
Careless about my feelings…you may throw my soul in the trash…
Tellin someone don’t read her poetry, she’s racist…
Guess what, you stay quiet, you get all offended
However deep down, you know I’m speakin facts….
It’s why you don’t like how I write,
How I write for black people,
They look like me
I’m another voice that pens all their anger
And you wanna soothe my emotions to calmness
With gospel, sayin I shouldn’t write this at all…
Why not? Why I shouldn’t write?
Why I shouldn’t write poems for black people?
They’re goin to find a way to save them,
And read them out loud without a fuckin care in the world…
I love exposin white supremacy,
In my own poetic way…
I don’t need to switch words around
To make others feel comfortable…
They’re goin to feel this discomfort…
They’re goin to get this guilt trip when it comes to
Racism…I don’t care
Cos it’s my way erasin their ignorance…that’s my job…
I make it so…black people don’t need to walk around
Not knowin the system is attackin them…
I want to do that…so go ahead
Exterminate my poems
Go ahead
I got copies..
And copies
And I share them with my readers
You may stop my readers
But they will keep readin my melaninated lines
Out loud…you may try to create a grave
For my voice, for my spirit to bury in the soil
But guess what
I’d be even louder
Cos you know damn well
I’m tellin the truth…✊🏿💯©️ Kai C. 9-25-24
