This Is The History We Were Never Taught Growing Up.

The amount of theft from Black American freedmen is real. Land theft is included in that. A big reason for that is land was a big flex for our black American ancestors. And it still is!

It brought a lot of our ancestors out of poverty and out of debt. It also allowed Black folks to fund other business ventures with it. Imagine if many of these families were allowed to gain the wealth from the land passed down via generations, there would be many Black Millionaires.

During the 21st century, 90% of land that was Black owned was lost due to racism, trickery, violence, terrorism, etc.

Black people, can we normalize not letting people who have stolen and capitalized off what they have stolen tell us how to feel or what we should be doing to pull ourselves up by the boot straps when they never did.

FYI black freedmen did pull themselves up by the bootstraps...even with no boots and often when the boot were taken. Also stealing from someone else and their potential generational wealth and hiding it is not work, this is why it’s so important for us to know our stories, and not allow others to speak for and on us.
