So where I'm at in NJ, I have been able to experience many sunrises from the beach. I have also done this while in MD and on my visits to Myrtle Beach. The sun rose from the northeastern direction from my location at the time of rising.

So back to my original question. WHY IS THE ECLIPSE STARTING FROM THE SOUTHWEST???
