Respect last longer than fame so I will always respect Digable Planets for standing ten toes down on what they believe in. They just won a Grammy Award for best rap performance by a duo or group, beating out “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” by Dr. Dre and “Hip Hop Hooray” by Naughty by Nature, among others. They could’ve easily abandoned their principles but they endured. The powers that be phased out all of the rappers that were giving knowledge of self but can never phase out the respect of a people for people that are for the people. Butterfly , Cee Knowledge, Ladybug Mecca, I will always respect your contribution to the culture and I’m glad you’re still performing. You blended Jazz and hiphop effortlessly and made it your own lane. Even Guru knew you were forever Cool Like Dat!
