Ugandan ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ officials have strongly criticized the World Bank ๐Ÿฆ and Western nations for their perceived โ€œhypocrisyโ€ after the global lender suspended lending for projects in Uganda ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ.

The World Bankโ€™s decision was prompted by Ugandaโ€™s enactment of a new anti-homosexuality ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ law, which the Bank cited as a violation of its values.

Ugandaโ€™s ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem said the move by the World Bank was hypocritical.

He accused the Western entities of being quick to lecture vulnerable countries about democracy, only to turn around and punish them when they do what doesnโ€™t suit the interests of Western powers and allied institutions.
