Apparently some white boy had run up behind her and slapped her in the back of the neck, and as a result of her Kung Fu training she had inadvertently (automatically) dislocated his jaw. She had never used her training before, and was haunted by how easily she had permanently damaged another human being. His jaw healed, but was never quite the same.
