Cos of bad history, cos of racial ideologies
Still live there…I don’t blame them….

And I’m sure there are pregnant black women
Out there who complain goin to the hospital…
We heard the news of what happened….
We convince our brothas to go for a checkup…
You tell medical apartheid is still breathin….

I’m aware of things changed but still the same…
There are some doctors who still think
Melaninated folks feel no pain….
There are nurses who would ignore our
Screams and let us passed away….

This is racism,
Racism in real life
In present time…
It’s why black people hesitate
Or refuse to go…
I can’t blame them….

Honestly
I think we have our own clinic
And plant our medicine from the earth….
Plus we’re suppose to connect with nature
However the colonization has removed our bodies
Away from it….

I get a sense that we were taught to hate
Nature and trust the authoritative white doctors…
And their pseudo science….
And I think we’re taught not to believe
In black healers…
We’re so far removed….

I don’t wanna be
An experiment
I don’t wanna volunteer
Cos what if does somethin happen
To me in the name of white supremacy?
In the name of so called black inferiority?

It won’t happen….
I’m just sayin
These things happened

Broken bones
Ignore their screams
Their ignorant narratives of they feel no pain….
And all of this becomes a pattern
A broken record…
Regardless of American apologies
They’re not really sorry….

I really hate to say this
Medical system still is killin black people….
Childbirth of black women are still dyin
Black men are still refusin to go to their doctor appointments…
It’s why it’s good idea to learn and study how to create your garden of

I am reading a book called Medical Apartheid by Harriet A. Washington. It’s about how medical field treated black people as subhumans. It’s a historical context of physician and scientist abuse that has been passed down from from slavery into today. They talked about Tuskegee syphilis study on black men. They even talked about the myth of crack babies. It made me write this piece because I was usin my critical thinking skills. It also pissed me off. The book is good and informative. Maybe other people should read it, too. Black folks should read this.
