One broken race..

We’re one broken race
Some of us don’t think so
But we truly are…

We as black people
Need to know
What psychology is,
How does slavery colonialism affect us?
Why do we behave ourselves like abnormal?
How come do we pass down fear and Stockholm syndrome
Down to our babies?
Why is that we don’t talk about our mental health
Enough?

Sometimes we question
And other times we’re told to leave it alone
Sayin it’s nothin as our illnesses has been swept
Under the rug….

Too many black people use Christianity
Just to leave it alone, we gotta pray about it…
Jesus will take care of it….

We’re sick…..too hard to break a cycle
Though some did get out of it
Still we still got trauma that haunts us
Like a ghost…
With racism still around,
It doesn’t help….

Ws still have too much hate
Within our own nations
Within our own selves….
That whiteness is still stuck on us….
That self hate is too real,
Too deep….
It makes black people look desperate…
This isn’t opinion….
This is facts….

Slavery and colonialism
Has fucked us up
Even today
It still fuck us up….
It’s the things big and small
That white supremacy does…
We don’t see it
Though it’s in our faces…
When we do complain
Some of us will get shut down
Quiet our voices….

And we all know it’s unfair….

We’re one broken race…
We’re the only people on the planet
Who are broken…as it seems….

It’s why durin pre Jim Crow era
We don’t have therapy that helps us
Cope and deal with mental damages
We don’t know any psychologist
Around that we know of…

We have to deal in our own way
But it keeps repeatin itself over and over…

It’s why we’re one broken
Even when we’re strong
Even when we defend ourselves
We’re still broken…

Our conditions keep stalkin us
Like ghouls in the dark….

We as black people
Has to know psychology
Why do we behave in not so normal way?
Why do we think we keep waitin on Jesus?
How come we take a white man seriously
And not the black man?
These are the things we need to search for
And discuss ourselves?

We’re a sick people
And it’s one of them that keeps holdin us back…
