What if a black man with a disability
Who stole a sandwich from the cop?
Mind you a black man who is unaware
And loves to wander off, right?
And somehow the cop saw him
And he shot him several times….
He doesn’t know what he’s doin…
Where’s the staff? Or where is his mama?

The cop shot him to the ground
With his sandwich in his hand,
Tellin him to put his hands behind his head
But he died….the fact is, he didn’t realize that
That a black man is a special need…
Would he care?
Yet he feel threatened…he thought
He had a gun….

Somehow it was a sandwich from subway
That he stole….a cop left the paper open….

Will it make it to the news?
Or not being talked about?
Cos we live in a harsh world
Where black people with disabilities dealin
With systemic racism doesn’t get discussed
A lot…we kinda forget that, too…
Black people with disabilities are a part of
Black communities…and they do need to
Talk about white supremacy…black people
As a whole are at war, whether we see or not…

I’m not sayin a black man with special needs
And the cop is a true story….it’s just another scenario
That does get me thinkin….

It could happen…. And it’s why a lot of us
Black people with disabilities need protection
And some don’t…..though most of us go
Live in the group home or at home….
We get jobs we go to day programs….
We do get marry and have a family
We live independently….

However whether we see it or not,
Racism is still there…still there to follow
With ableism…..

I’m just sayin….
