I’m wheelchair bound
All my life
But it doesn’t define me…
My disability isn’t the meanin
Of who I am….
It’s the way I was born,
There’s nothin wrong with me….

Doesn’t mean I’m stupid
Doesn’t mean you can mock my speech impediment…

I’m a human
I’m a person

I have feelings
I have logic…

Just like you…

Don’t dehumanize me….

Only cos I got special needs
I’m a woman
I’m black
Doesn’t mean you can treat me
Like an animal nor a child….

Yes I can write poetry
Yes I can draw
Yes I’m an independent and need an assistant
At the same time….

You may not use me
May not capitalize me

I’m a human just like you….
Are you a human?
Well i hope you are….
I mean you ain’t a robot
You still got your beatin heart….
