Vivien Thomas, African-American surgical technician who developed the procedures used to treat blue baby syndrome in the 1940s. Thomas was also offered the position of Chief of Surgery at his alma mater, Johns Hopkins in 1941.

This is Aretha Franklin and Mahalia Jackson. They were both a powerhouse behind the scenes for our people. Yes both had FBI files. How many know that they did more than any history book has admitted. Both known for singing but somehow not many know how powerful their activities for our people were today. When BET and Soul Train awards honored Aretha not one mention of the power she had and used for us. She was right there with Mahalia, Malcolm, Martin, Medgar and the rest. Hummm yes Angela, the Black Panther party etc.
